Quartz History The Servis Quartz is the result of a unique development programme that started years ago. It was initially decided to produce an automatic based directly upon what the housewife required and wanted from her washing machine and on what the world's leading detergent manufacturers considered to be the ideal wash programmes regardless of the technology currently available. since Servis were the first people in the world to produce a microchip-controlled washing machine, back in 1977, it was natural that this project should lead to further major developments in the electronic field. Into the design of the microcomputer required to control the machine went the knowledge gained from massive consumer research programmes, giving detailed information on current and desired wash habbits; all the experience gained by Servis from making washing machines for over 50 years and the combined resourses of the world's leading detergent manufacturers. The first machines were completed in January 1980 and to ensure that all of the original aims were met, they were put on a 12 month consumer test in ordinary homes throughout the country. The result: The Servis Quartz - the world's first quartz controled washing machine, designed simply to give the best possible wash results economically and reliably - by making the maximum use of the wash detergent while at the same time using the minimum amount of energy and, for the precise yet flexible control system necessary to give these results Servis have used a quartz-timed microprocessor - another major British breakthrough in washing machine development - by Servis. The Servis quartz has a revolutonary design of wash drum, known as the Spin-cam drum. This is designed to be more gentle on clothes than the conventional 'multi-hole' drum while, at the same time, ensuring maximum water extraction during spin. Although extremely sophisticated in design, the Servis is simplicity itself to operate; but in order to get the best results read your owners handbook fully. |
